David Melvin, P.E., is President and Chief Executive Officer of David H. Melvin, Inc., Consulting Engineers. Established in 1989, Melvin engineering provides civil and structural engineering services to pubic and private clients located throughout the Florida Panhandle. With headquarters in David’s hometown of Marianna and offices in Tallahassee and Panama City, Melvin Engineering continues to experience significant growth. The firm is well known for its dedication to quality and a commitment to each client. The philosophy of the company is one built upon integrity, trust, and character.

In addition to serving on many civic boards and advisory committees, David’s passion during the past eight years has been to bring forward the need for character strengthening and building not only in his company but in his community. Recognizing the need for character in his own life, David implemented the CharacterFirst! program in his business and since then has experienced significant positive results with employees and their families as well. His enthusiasm in sharing the results of CharacterFirst! and its positive impact has translated into the formation of the Character Council of Florida, a non-profit organization, dedicated to bringing an awareness of the importance of demonstrating good character in all facets of life - the workplace, school, community, and family. David serves as the organization’s President and with a broad-based Board of Directors and support staff, has a vision and commitment for continued growth, education, training and implementation.

David’s professional success was recently recognized by the Florida State University School of Business. In 2006 he was named The Jim Moran Institute’s Entrepreneurial of Excellence Award winner, an award very much esteemed by the business community. In 2004 he received the Ethics in Business Award from the Tallahassee Region of Rotary International. David and his wife Patty have eight children and reside in Marianna, Florida.
