About Us

The Character Council of Northwest Florida (CCNWF) organized in 2001 for the purpose of promoting, supporting, and encouraging good character awareness, education, and recognition for the citizens and residents of the Northwest Florida region. Since that time, however, the organization has grown in its outreach to business and organizations both nationally and
internationally. Under the direction of a community-based board of directors, the non profit has thrived under the leadership of founder, David Melvin, and Executive Director, Lisa Hamilton.

With a purpose built upon the principle that character determines success, the Character Council offers training which teaches the importance of character in every facet of life. The opportunity to implement and integrate the Character First! curriculum within the business, education, and community-at-large has been well received because of the world in which we live and the need for individuals to be inwardly motivated to do the right thing according to the highest standards of behavior in every circumstance.

Our certified trainers have formally trained more than 8,000 employees from the world of business and education. Our specialty is customized training which affords every organization the opportunity to reach their full potential. In addition to the core curriculum, our trainers offer advanced courses in leadership, communication, and service. Every presentation is designed to encourage group participation, discuss real-life situations, and culminate in a better understanding of the role character plays in everything we do.
